First Nation Recovery Case Manager (2 Positions)

The Alerting and Field Operations Branch currently has two First Nations, Recovery Case Manager opportunities for individuals with strong communication and multi-tasking skills who are interested in working in a fast paced, collaborative environment. Reporting to the Manager First Nations, Field Operations, these positions assist First Nation Communities recover from damage caused by a disaster or emergency event by providing application and reimbursement assistance for the Emergency Management Assistance Program (EMAP). These roles require your ability to work with various internal and external stakeholders, while applying your interpersonal skills. Specific accountabilities include:

  • Liaise as the focal contact point for all applicants to respond to queries and provide updates
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and provide guidance and expertise on client program eligibility
  • Research, gather and assess client information to determine eligibility by applying standards, policies and guidelines specific to the type of claim
  • Prepare official correspondence regarding inquiries and complaints with respect to EMAP under tight time constraints, including the interpretation of provincial regulations and policies, and the research and analysis needed to respond
  • Ensure that EMAP applications are processed in accordance with program protocols
  • Prepare recommendations for various EMAP payments to eligible applicants in accordance with the appropriate eligibility requirements, including provincial and federal regulations

    High School Diploma and a minimum of three years related experience including interpreting legislation/regulations; communicating eligibility requirements and responding to inquiries with external stakeholders; ensuring compliance and financial accountability with full documentation; drafting communication documents such as briefing notes, memos and letters; and/or recommending process improvements is required. Experience using databases as well as MS Office Excel and Word is required. Application of First Nation assistance programs and/or First Nation governance as well as experience working in First Nation Communities is preferred. Experience in a government funding environment and/or with grant administration or disaster recovery regulations will be considered an asset. Experience using ARTS (Action Request Tracking System) or other information management tracking systems is also an asset.     Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered:
  • 2-year diploma such as Business, Office, Lease or Insurance Administration or a related field, and 1 year related experience as specified above
  • 1-year certificate such as Business, Office, Lease or Insurance Administration or a related field, and 2 years related experience as specified above


    $1,843.28 to $2,256.80 bi-weekly
    Wage opportunity: $25.42/hour to $31.12/hour


  • There are two positions available: One is a full-time, temporary salaried position, with an end date set to expire March 31, 2019, and the other is an hourly wage opportunity (36.25 hours/week).
