NATURE OF WORK

The job of financial management officers involves more specifically, realizing the College’s financial activities and assisting with Human Resources and Payroll with financial management.

This position will collaborate with the HR/Payroll team and the Finance department as required in the completion of his/her duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the quarterly and year end activities of the HR/Payroll department
• Perform account reconciliation and analysis as well as maintaining assigned G/L accounts throughout the year
• Examine and reconcile payments and ensure that disbursements are allocated to the appropriate budgets and in conformity with procedures
• Principal resource for finance information and requirements as they relate to payroll
• Evaluate, design and development of processes and work tools with a view to improving & streamlining processes, efficiency, and performance
• Analyze, plan and prepare reports to provide to the appropriate College and governmental bodies (e.g. SPOC, CNESST, CARRA, Finance, etc.)
• Oversee the faculty release dossier in conjunction with the Registrar and Research departments as well as Unions
• Oversee the financial reporting of employees’ salaries during the annual budget process
• Work in collaboration and provide support to the Financial Management Officer - Payroll
• Perform other related duties as required

Requirements :
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of specialization, particularly Commerce or Business Administration.

CONDITIONS

• Must have strong accounting skills
• Must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in an automated finance/payroll environment
• Must possess excellent communications skills, both oral and written in both English and French
• Must have advanced Excel skills
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with people and able to handle difficult situations
• Able to maintain department standards with respect to the confidentiality of information
• Previous experience in a unionized environment would be an asset
• Knowledge of Retraite Quebec (CARRA) Pension Plan would be an asset
