Adecco Canada is recruiting to work on site at Cirque du Soleil for its upcoming show KOOZA, which will be premiering on October 29, 2015 and running until early January. We are currently seeking qualified Prep Cooks who will be responsible for the cold table bar, and assisting the Chefs with prep tasks for food on the hot line. If you meet the qualifications listed below, please Apply Now!Responsibilities for this Prep Cook position include:- Prepare cold and hot sections of the kitchen service line
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment
- Prepare salads and dressings, cold cuts, cheeses, basic salad items, i.e. green salads, vegetables, pasta and potato salads, tuna and chicken salads, etc.
- Carve and trim meats such as beef, veal, ham, pork, and lamb for hot or cold service, or for sandwiches
- Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment
- Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods smelling, or piercing them with utensils
- Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices
- Open and close the cold bar, turn table on and off and control its temperature frequently
- Receive and put away food deliveries
- Clean and organize prep-area; clean and organize prep fridge; mop back of Kitchen floors; throw out garbage, compost, and recycling
- Assist in other areas as needed and assigned by other Cirque du Soleil Kitchen Manager and Head-Chef and/or Adecco On-Site staffQualifications: - Must 2 years hands on kitchen experience or effective combination of education and experience
- Experience working the hot line / grill section
- Experience working in the cold larder / salad bar section in professional catering or a busy restaurant environment is essential
- Culinary skills and techniques for Strong knife skills are essential; must wear own non-slip shoes, chef's coats and pants
- Ability to handle and prepare a variety of raw and cooked foods
- Willingness and knowledge to work with international ingredients
- Strong understanding and compliance with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
- Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment
- Ability to work well under pressure and take direction
- Motivated team player with good initiative and problem solving abilities
- Assist in other areas as needed and assigned by other Cirque Kitchen Manager and Head-Chef;
- Must be able to work flexible hours, days, evenings and weekendsCompensation: $ 16.76 per hour+ 4% vacation pay = $ 17.43 hourly All selected candidates must be available for training on October 28, 2015Open availability and flexibility for shifts is required throughout the duration of the shows which will include working during holidays.
