DRS Technologies Canada Ltd. (DRS TCL),  is a leading mid-tier Canadian defence electronics company specializing in military voice and data communications systems; electro-optics (EO) and infrared search and tracking systems (IRST); command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) systems integration; deployable flight data recorders; avionics systems engineering; soldier systems; training and simulation systems; defence/space electronics manufacturing.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Test Technician will follow test procedures to perform tests on manufactured Circuit Card Assemblies, chasses and systems. The individual will use various pieces of test equipment to make simple to complex measurements that will be documented in test data sheets. This being a technical position the technician may be called upon to provide technical guidance to other groups inside the company as required.

 

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Inspects, tests production and R/O circuit cards and systems

  • Operates standard and experimental test equipment of moderate complexity

  • Follows prescribed test procedures or explicit instructions

  • Troubleshoots malfunctioning assemblies and initiates rework process

  • Runs automated test stations, Go no Go testing

  • Performs ESS testing using existing test stations

  • Collects and documents test results

  • Flexible and able to perform diverse technical assignments in Product Delivery & Support

  • Commitment to meeting and exceeding high quality standards is expected at all times despite often tight deadlines

  • Demonstrate a high degree of initiative and be proactive

  • Work in a dynamic environment and be prepared to provide support in cross-functional teams

  • Critical test periods require 24 hour coverage; i.e. some shift work

  • This profile reflects the major normal duties of the position.Other duties and projects may be assigned

Technical Competencies:

 

  • Electronics Technician certificate or greater than 1yr similar military training, or equivalent combination of education and related work experience

  • 0-3 years of related work experience in electronics industry an asset

  • Maintain any certifications and security clearances needed to comply with government regulations and customer requirements.

  • Integrative thinker and problem solver

  • Good working knowledge of Statistical Process Control

  • Sound understanding of Just-In-Time and MRP II principles as applied to production

  • Ability to read basic analog/digital/rf schematics

  • Ability to identify failure trends, gather necessary data and notify Engineering
